For so long I have felt as though I need to be quiet and that sharing my pain is an inconvenience to others. I learned to silence my story, and as a result, I censored myself, which made it difficult to connect with people. The Hear/d Residency, however, gave me a safe, supportive place to share the tragedies that I have been through, and it offered me the opportunity to be truly open, with others and myself. I met wonderful, like-minded people with unique stories who welcomed me without question and made me feel heard. I feel truly blessed that I got to be a part of the Hear/d Residency and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a safe space to be themselves.
