Other Horizons: AUArts x SMFA Exchange Exhibition / 1.17-2.3.2025

In the spirit of communal working that is fundamental to the culture of printmaking and textile craft, this exhibition is a collaborative venture between the artists of Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) and those of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts (SMFA). Artists working in either medium were given the opportunity to share their practice with another community in an international exhibition that was curated and sent for display at the collaborating institution. This installation of works is primarily of the artists from SMFA, with a small collection of works by current students and recent alumni of AUArts. This exhibition was facilitated by the Marion Nicoll Gallery in conjunction with Jolie Bird, Jonathan Creese, Megan Kirk, and Vicky Rodriquez.

Jonathan Creese is a visual artist and writer whose work explores the culture of Trinidadian society (and in extension wider creolised societies), with interest in interrogating, documenting, innovating, and exposing the underlying structures within, in the hope of challenging internal and external perceptions of the space and its individuals. In addition to his personal studio practice, he works collaboratively with fellow artists and creatives to facilitate and curate projects, using his technical competency in the languages of printmaking and textile craft to bridge relationships between the mediums and the collaborating artist’s individual practice.
